*Sessions 1-4 are 3 day sessions, Mon-Wed-Fri, 9am-3pm, $200 early bird or $215 w/$50 deposit required to hold your spot, pay balance at beach

**Session 5 is 2 day session, Tues and Thurs, 9 am -3 pm, $150 early bird or $165 w/$50 deposit required to hold your spot, pay balance at beach

September and early October is some of our nicest weather of the year and also a good time to nurture our ocean skills in the changing of the seasons.
*Session 6 is 3 Sundays, 11am-330pm,
$180 early bird or $190 w/$50 deposit required to hold your spot, pay balance at beach or $65/day drop in. All participants and levels welcome.
Participants may sign up for ONLY 2 sessions of sessions 1-5, but can be put on our waitlist for an additional 3rd session if our sessions do not fill. All participants can join session 6.

Water enthusiasts of ALL LEVELS will enjoyably learn the aquatic skills necessary for riding
waves while being immersed in lifeguard water safety, surf etiquette, and beach and ocean
awareness. Our awesome Local male and female surfers/instructors/lifeguards will demonstrate and in-water assist in all three styles of wave riding:
BODY SURFING, BOARD SURFING, Jr LIFESAVING & BODY BOARDING
And all the while guiding and safely facilitating in Jr Lifesaving activities and plenty of fun beach games

HOW: all equipment provided except wetsuits which are usually available to buy new or used or rent at The Shop in Arcata (939 8th St. in Arcata, next to the Arcata Co-op), Seapod in Arcata (Creamery Building 824 L St-707-630-3051), Pacific Outfitters in Eureka (707-443-6328), and HSU Center Activities (707-826-3357). Surfcampers can receive a discount & if you rent a wetsuit and want to buy it after surfcamp, the shops might deduct your rental cost from the sale price. Due to closing of one local surf shop, wetsuits are in slightly shorter supply, so arrange to buy, rent or borrow well in advance to insure your child's 4mm wetsuit, comfort for surfcamp
*THE ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL KEY TO ENJOYABLE & SAFE YEAR-ROUND SURFING ON THE REDWOOD COAST IS OWNING A PROPER WETSUIT . WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BUY A WETSUIT SO YOU WILL CONTINUE TO FLOAT (difficult to sink wearing a 4+ mm layer of neoprene :-) AND FEEL WARM WHILE SURFING THE COLD, BUT BEAUTIFUL WATERS OF THE NORTH COAST (great investment as it can also be used for aquatic activities on the river , lake, lagoon.....)
* Note: 3mm wetsuits are not thick enough for our north coast water temps. 4mm works for kids in the summer. I wear a 4mm/5mm combo suit year-round.
**IMPORTANT: Wetsuits have been in shorter supply the last couple of years, SO ARRANGE YOUR WETSUIT WELL BEFORE CAMP BEGINS. Parents have been successful finding kids wetsuits to out of town in places like Santa Cruz, borrowing or buying from friends whose kids have grown out of them, finding them occasionally on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace or even pawn shops.
