Always Wanted to Surf the Summer Waves of Moonstone Beach and Trinidad, California?
The website will be updated regularly-if any session says (FULL) next to the dates, then choose a different session or if that is only session you can do, we can put you on the waitlist. Contact us by voicemail or email with: your son or daughter's name and age, your name and phone number.
If you have sent your registration in and haven't heard from us, then you are confirmed for the #1 & #2 sessions you signed up for. We will contact you right away ONLY if there is a conflict of the dates you signed up for or only your #3 or #4 preference are available. Also, 1 week before camp we send an email (or text if no email was written on your registration form) with pre-camp reminder of how to prepare for camp the following Monday. These reminders are also on the 'How To Prepare 4 Camp' page
Kids seem to feel warmer than adults, so 4/3 mm combo wetsuits work for them in the summer (although with all the spring wind currently, the water is very cold). The combination of different thicknesses in the wetsuits, ie 4 mm in the body=warmth and 3mm in arms and back of legs=flexibility. Extra neoprene is warmer and better floatation too. I recommend 5/4mm combo suits to everybody for the above reasons and it extends the year-round surfing possibilities.
A little soap and water in the bootie and on the foot will help slip a foot right into a tight wetsuit bootie. A plastic bag temporarily over the a hand or foot, will allow the hand or foot to slip easily through the arm and leg openings. Turning wetsuit inside out and washing all the salt out will help it dry. Pick a windy spot out of the direct sunlight or a warm place inside the house for it to dry with a tub below it to catch the drips (ie bathroom, near the wood stove, water heater closet, room with a dehumidifier, ...are a few ideas)
The Luau for the kids takes place on Friday at lunch. The kids are encourage to wear flora Aloha shirts, hats, etc. Kids are to bring and eat their regular lunch as usual. Also if any family wants to contribute a homemade savory or sweet item, made at home with you (nothing store bought-encouraging it as a family project), please cut it into 20 pieces. Bringing an an item to share is definitely not required. We usually get a handful of offerings along with ours, so it's just enough goodies to share among the other activities like limbo contest, surf music, etc.
